Elizabeth Puleimoku Caitano Chang, 89, of Honolulu, formerly of North Kohala, died May 31 at Wahiawa Long Term Care facility on Oahu. Born in Kohala, she was a retired licensed practical nurse at the Kohala Hospital and member of Kalahikiola Congregational Church, Senior Citizens Club of Kohala, Kaahumanu Society of Kohala and the Kohala Gateball Club. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Halaula. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Waianaia Cemetery in Halaula. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by daughters, Nalani (Keith) Fujimoto and Bette Sue (Joseph) Cazimero of Honolulu; sister, Maria Rosehill of Honolulu; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Barbara Ellen Duke, 83, of Ocean View died June 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in La Junta, Colo., she was a retired art teacher and past president of Honaunau Senior Group. Private services. Anna Keohuloa, 87, of Kailua-Kona died June 15 at Larry’s Care Home in Kailua-Kona. Born in Hookena, she was a macadamia nut sorter for Hawaiian Host Candies and member of Kaahumanu Society and Daughters of Hawaii. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 30) at Pukaana Congregational Church in Kealia. Casual attire. Survived by brothers, Paul (Dolores) Keohuloa of South Point, George Kamaka of Hilo and Phillip Keohuloa of Kealakekua; sisters, Sarah Hose of Kailua-Kona, Harriet Wentworth of Olympia, Wash., and Maria Hayamoto of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Emily Keohuloa of Pahala and Esther Keohuloa of Molokai; nieces, nephews and cousins. Frederick Doren Stone, 79, of Kurtistown died May 29. Born in Freetown, N.Y., he taught environmental science at the University of Hawaii and was director of the Forest Tropical Ecosystem and Agriculture Management program at Hawaii Community College until his retirement, published numerous articles about the evolutionary biology of cave-adapted insects, worked on biodiversity conservation and provided expert testimony for projects affecting biodiversity, including the contested case regarding industrial development impacting Mauna Kea’s vulnerable biologic ecosystems. Yukito Takamoto, 103, of Kealakekua died May 29 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired stonemason and member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Kona Machi Kumi, Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1. Survived by wife, Katsumi Takamoto of Kealakekua; daughters, Janet Fujikawa of Kealakekua, Sharon (Topi) Hynynen and Judy (Arnold) Amano of Kona; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
